Hello Future Lady Knights,
My name is Coach Keeton, and I am truly honored to share that I will be leading the San Marcos High School Girls Flag Football program for its third season. This is more than just a coaching assignment for me—it’s something I am genuinely excited and passionate about. After more than 30 years in education and coaching, I still love stepping onto the field and watching young athletes discover what they are capable of achieving.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to coach a wide variety of sports, including football, baseball, girls’ softball, soccer, and flag football at both the middle school and high school levels. For the past 22 years, I have proudly served the San Marcos Unified School District as a Physical Education teacher at Alvin Dunn Elementary, Woodland Park Middle School, and San Elijo Middle School. One of the greatest rewards of my career has been seeing students grow in confidence, overcome challenges, and realize their own strength and resilience—both on and off the field.
As we begin this season, my commitment is to build a program where every athlete feels seen, supported, and empowered. Our goal is to create an environment that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and continuous growth. Training will focus on speed, agility, and both offensive and defensive fundamentals to help you elevate every aspect of your game. Whether you are new to flag football or a returning player, you will be challenged, encouraged, and supported as you work to reach your full potential—not just as an athlete, but as a teammate and young woman.
If you have any questions about the program or what to expect, please feel free to contact me at gary.keeton@smusd.org. I am excited for the season ahead and look forward to building a championship program together.
Go Knights!
